§ Medusa — The Petrifying Gaze

The Gorgon Oracle

At the edge of the known world stood the Gorgon — not a monster but a threshold, a guardian whose lowered gaze spared the ready and turned the rest to stone. Her serpents read the dark while she would not look up. Carved now in amethyst, her face holds the instant between being seen and becoming stone — a warning, and a protection, worn at the throat.
